In Decemeber 2018, we became aware of a crisis known to far too few people.
Today we still see children drink from swamps, because they have no choice.
There are people living with diseases most of us never heard of, because they have no choice but to drink dirty brown, disease infected water. Water with bugs and things swimming in it.
Women and children spent 40 billions hours a year walking to collect water from wells, swamps and rivers.
But here is hope...

That means children can stay at school and get education, women can go to work and even start their own business. It truly transforms the lives of so many now and for future generations.

But access to clean water means education, income and health - especially for women and children, who are mainly responsible for water collection in the developing countries.
Diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.
43% of those deaths are children under five years old. Access to clean water and basic sanitation can save around 16,000 lives every week.
In Africa alone, women spend 40 billion hours a year walking for water.
Access to clean water gives communities more time to grow food, earn an income, and go to school -- all of which fight poverty.
Clean water helps keep kids in school, especially girls.
Less time collecting water means more time in class. Clean water and proper toilets at school means teenage girls don’t have to stay home for a week out of every month.
Women are responsible for 72% of the water collected in Sub-Saharan Africa.
When a community gets water, women and girls get their lives back. They start businesses, improve their homes, and take charge of their own futures

It was a normal day at the office, Monday evening 6.30pm. "Just one last job" I said to myself, "I'll just quickly check"...
That was when I came across an interesting article about Scott Harrison. I read how he went from a night club promoter, living the high life, earning ridiculous money doing frankly “nothing”, but feeling empty and “emotionally bankrupted”... to making a real difference and positive impact on so many lives.
After watching the heart-warmingly inspiring, yet shocking video (below), I sat in silence.
Avocado Ninja was founded on our desire to help people improve their health, which would ultimately improve all areas of their life.
I soon realise that with Charity Water, not only can we help improve lives, but also save lives.
My brain went into overdrive and I knew from that moment, I was going to have to do something, anything I can.
I grabbed my laptop, tracked down my husband / business partner and we brainstormed late into the night.
The next day, we sprung into the office at 4am ready to make things happen. By the end of the day, the team was prepped, everyone is on board and all set, eager and ready to get started.
